The 2026 Platform

A comprehensive roadmap for a stronger, more equitable future for every citizen in our district.

Housing

Connecticut is facing a housing cost crisis, and Newtown is feeling it firsthand. Young families are
struggling to buy homes, seniors lack downsizing options, and local workers are being priced out. The
answer cannot be one-size-fits-all mandates from Hartford. I believe in local control. No one
understands Newtown’s needs better than the people who live here. We need creative, locally driven
zoning solutions that expand housing options where appropriate, protect neighborhood character, and
empower residents and local leaders to shape Newtown’s housing future.

Energy Costs

Energy prices in Connecticut are absolutely unaffordable, and Newtown families feel it every month.
Electric bills are confusing, unpredictable, and weighed down by public benefits charges that lack
transparency and accountability. I will push for stronger oversight of utility rates, clear disclosure of all
charges, and real consumer protection. We must also invest in clean energy produced here in
Connecticut to stabilize costs, reduce long-term price spikes, and give families relief they can count
on.

Childcare

For many Newtown families, childcare is one of the biggest expenses they face. Even middle-income
parents often struggle to find care they can afford. I support expanding childcare supply,
strengthening the childcare workforce, and providing targeted support for families who earn too much
to qualify for assistance but still cannot afford care. Affordable, reliable childcare is essential for
working parents, healthy child development, and a strong local economy.

Healthcare

Newtown residents deserve affordable healthcare and timely access to care, including mental health
services. I will protect coverage, expand behavioral health resources, and support practical solutions
like telehealth and community-based care. Seniors, veterans, and families all face gaps in access that
can be addressed through better coordination and smarter use of state resources. Healthcare policy
should reduce stress, not add to it, and focus on keeping people healthy and supported close to
home.

education

Newtown’s schools are one of our greatest strengths, yet our town sends far more tax dollars to
Hartford than we receive back in state investment. This imbalance is especially clear in Newtown’s
low school construction reimbursement rates, which place an unfair burden on local taxpayers. I will
fight relentlessly to increase those reimbursement rates so Hartford is investing in Newtown, not the
other way around. Strong schools require fair funding, predictable support, and real partnership from
the state.

traffic and infrastructure

Too much I-84 traffic is being pushed through Newtown, creating congestion that hurts safety, quality
of life, and local roads. Our town should not bear the brunt of a regional transportation failure. We
need real investment in public transportation options that reduce pressure on I-84 and keep through-
traffic out of Newtown’s neighborhoods. Smarter regional planning and reliable transit alternatives will
improve safety and protect our community.

Making politics less divisive

I am committed to lowering the temperature, listening respectfully, and focusing on solutions instead
of sound bites. That means open communication and working across differences to get results. You
can trust me to listen, be honest, and work hard to deliver for Newtown.
